Old School, New School Who Sets the Rules?

Hip-Hop is in a real a state of limbo. In the light of this event the Supreme World Council of the Universal Zulu nation has announced an emergency meeting to be held on Feb. 22, 2006. For those of you who aren't sure of who the Zulu Nation is let me give you and overview. The man in the picture over there isn't Kool Moe Dee....that is Afrika Bambatta leader and founder of this group. You see, when people were still dancing to Disco in the Midwest, he and his peers were creating a culture called Hip Hop.

The Zulu Nation was formed to stop the gang violence that was starting to get out of hand in NYC. Bambatta realized that he wanted to make a change so he organized a non violent group that was to spread a message of peace and love throughout the world. The the Universal Zulu nation was born.

Now it seems that the originators of this movement aren't pleased with the direction that Hip Hop has taken. It seems that she has evolved into a voilent art form that deomoralizes women, and glorifies drugs sales, greed, and decadence. They want to do something about that. They are making a plea to the media outlets to balance the different types of the art forms that they show. They want them to show both sides of the culture. Do you think they will listen or will they continue to focus on sales? I'm thinking the latter.

The Five Basic Elements of HIP HOP
DJ'ing: Before the radio and mainstream embraced hip hop the DJ's were the headliners of the hip hop culture.
MC'ing: or rappping: Rappers started out being the Master of Ceremonies. They used to say witty things and pumped up the crowd for the DJ. This is no confused as being the entire Hip Hop culture to some. This is also the aspect of the culture that is guilty for spreading most of the filth that is now called Hip Hop
Writing: The art that is attached to this cultural movement. Some Grahitti that were part of the early Hip Hop culture went on to become famous within the art world.
Dancing: Breakdancing, pop locking, up rocking, clowning and many other forms of dance are part of the Hip Hop culture.
Knowledge: This is the element that many fail to realize is part of the Hip Hop culture. The media portrays people within this culture as ignorant stereotypical characters but people with a true love of Hip Hop have a thirst for knowledge. Ask Nas.

Dick's Street Cred Is on the Rise!

Gangsta MODE

After the 'accidental' shooting of a member of his hunting party, current VP, Dick Cheyney's street cred is on the rise. He is now in the process of deciding which major Rap Label he should sign with. The Inc has heavy interests because they need a heavy hitter to deal with 50 Cent. Can Fiddy deal with a VP that blasted a dude in the grill then just goes on with everyday life?

Not only is he gangsta in the hood, he's an international gangsta. Who else could become VP, help conjure up a war and make money hand over fist from the profits that were created from the war? I wonder if he was hittin' Beyonce when she penned the classic 'Soldier'. He fits the description on the flippin money three ways line. I'm sorry he was cited for not having proper permits to hunt quail in Texas. I wonder if the Quail he was shooting at was Dan?

FEMA Evicts 12,000

After Katrina the FEMA 'stepped up' and provided relief shelter for thousands of victims that lost their homes. Then FEMA, disaster of an agency, moved people to cities all over the USA and paid their hotel bills for them to have a place to stay. However, they are ending these payments after a few extensions this month.

I commend them for even doing anything to help these displaced victims, but this is like the our great and grand government always does the the poor. Help them a little then leave them hanging. I don't know why I am using the term poor, isn't that politically incorrect? I really can't use it anyway because Katrina waxed everyone.

Imagine being in a different region of the US, with no idea of were to turn for help. FEMA isn't that bad of a villian though, it is giving everyone a $1,800.00 check. Wow. Is $1,8000.00 enough to pay rent in NYC? When you need a place to stay, and are maybe obtaining new job skills to compete in a different employment climate $1,800 isn't near enough. If you aren't employed with some sort of degree or skill, you aren't bringing home much more than $1,800 a month. How does a government that spends so senselessly become such a heartless giver? How can you leave people within your own borders homeless but jump through hoops to support freedom and the promotion of democracy to countries that aren't really interested in that type of government throughout the world? I guess thoes affected and displaced by Katrina don't fit the profile for welfare recipients. They only give mad cash for corporate welfare. If you believe the Iraq War is for the Iraqis, you need a reality check.

Sports Journalists Are Hurting the Sports

Have you ever wondered what the plethora of sports shows and newspaper writers could do to sports? I thought about it the other day after the fiasco of the Super Bowl. I don't think anyone would have noticed the bad officiating if it wasn't for the announcers. They made a few calls seem as if they had no grounds. I admit there was one bad call. But all the hoopla about the refs winning the game was false. I'd like to say my philosophy on winning big games is making the most big plays. In a championship football game, if you let a team have two touchdowns of 49+ yards...You lose. That's why the Seahawks lost. They gave up huge plays. You can shut a team out except for 3 plays and you can still lose.

Another thing is the so call experts are dogging refs when they are watching the action at full speed. Some of the calls they have to make are blurs to the normal eye. But ex-players that have the luxury of slow motion are making it seem like its a horrendous thing to make a mistake. Don't QB's make the wrong reads all of the time, and wide receivers miss easy passes from time to time, running backs fumble, defensive player bite on play action and linemen miss key blocks. If a ref makes a bad call, its not the end of the world. Good teams can overcome bad calls. Teams on the brink of being good but are mediocre and somehow find themselves in the Superbowl can't win close games. During the season they were a one trick pony, in the superbowl that pony didn't do any tricks.
